The Council of Legal Education released results of the bar exams and apparently, most of them will have to return to Law School, Vanguard reports.
Of the 5,588 candidates who sat for the exams conducted in April and May, 2015, only four candidates made First Class and a total number of 109 candidates made Second Class Upper.
Director General of the Nigerian Law School, Mr O. A. Onadeko, who stated that a total number of 2,736 students took the Bar final resit examinations for the 2014/2015 school year, put the failure rate at 64.8%.
The four First Class candidates are Sani Fatima Bombom (Abuja Campus), Mbonu Genevieve Chinyeaka (Lagos Campus), Olowu Adetutu Abisoye (Lagos Campus) and Abajuo Reason Emma (Enugu Campus).
Onadeko added that,“The call to the Bar ceremonies for the successful candidates will hold from October 20 to 22 , 2015, in Abuja”.
The successive DGs of the institution had expressed similar concern over the declining standard and high failure rates being recorded in the bar exams.
A further breakdown of the results revealed that those who had earlier failed the exams in the 2014-2015 session recorded the higher number of failure after resit.
