Live: FBI Director James Comey testifies on Hillary Clinton email probe

Two days after recommending Hillary Clinton not be prosecuted over her use of a private email server as secretary of state, FBI Director James Comey is testifying on Capitol Hill before the House Oversight Committee.

 Comey is fielding questions from the GOP-led committee about the FBI’s probe.

 Chief among them: Why the agency decided to disperse criminal charges against Clinton despite Comey’s conclusion that the former cabinet secretary was “extremely careless” in her handling of classified information as head of the State Department.

“The FBI’s recommendation is surprising and confusing. The fact pattern presented by Director Comey makes clear Secretary Clinton violated the law,” said the committee’s chairman, Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz. “Individuals who intentionally skirt the law must be held accountable.”
